About Us

Offering Ice Skating to Calgary’s Southeast Communities

The Wild Rose Figure Skating Club, formed in 1995, serves Southeast Calgary communities and provides learn-to-skate and figure skating programs to children of all ages.

Philosophy

Wild Rose Figure Skating Club is focused on the optimal development of all of our members in an environment conducive to a shared vision of teamwork, sportsmanship, community and a passion for our sport. Although skating is inherently an individual sport we are keen to build a community of skaters and coaches who function as a team. Skate Canada has mandated that all clubs develop affordable group programming to sustain a lifelong passion and participation in the sport and also where talent can be identified and supported. We support Skate Canada’s vision though our grassroots skaters and develop it through all club programming. This means that all coaches are responsible in some way for all of the Club’s skaters from a beginner CanSkater to a competitive senior STARSkater. We will function together and support each other in our skating journey.

Operations

Our Executive, a group of parent volunteers, plan and administer the skating programs offered each season. All of the Executive, with the exception of the Past President and the Coaching Representative, are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. The Coaching Representative is elected annually by and from within the coaches of the club. Instruction and coaching is led by NCCP certified Skate Canada coaches.
