STARSkate

Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!

Group STARSkate

The Group STARSkate figure skating program is being offered as a stepping-stone from CanSkate to STARSkate. Skaters at the CanSkate Stage 4 level are eligible for this program. Lessons are provided in a group format and led by a professional coach. Skaters who should consider this program are those who are interested in going into the Skate Canada STARSkate or CompetitiveSkate program. Ice and coaching fees are included with registration in this program.

  • This program introduces skaters to the basic skills needed for the STARSkate or CompetitiveSkate program.
  • Skaters will be encouraged to practice their skills independently.
  • Figure skates are recommended for this program.

STARSkate

STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.

Sessions are open to all levels of STARSkate as well as AdultSkate participants, with prior approval by coach. Skaters work at their own pace and lessons are billed directly to the skater.

CompetitiveSkate

Skaters enrolled in CompetitiveSkate learn a variety of life skills as they progress up the competitive ladder. These include goal setting, focus, ability to deal with success/failure, time management and principles of fair play and sportsmanship. For more information see Skate Canada: CompetitiveSkate.
